Whether ‘tis wiser for the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous misrepresentation,
Or to take arms against a sea of Tories,
Yet by endorsing scotch any chance of meaningful voting reform for decades.
To vote for one, no more, or by a vote to say,
“I want you but if you don’t win outright
I’d take him instead…”
What a piece of work is AV! How noble in
Reason! How generous in choice. In form, er -
How much better than first-past-the-post.
Yet, to me, this is all a bit like arguing whether to mix brussel sprouts and prune juice or consume them separately.
Labour delights not me; no, nor Lib Dems neither;
Nor Tories, nor UKIP, nor Greens, nor BNP et cetera…
Sure, reform it altogether. And let those that play like clowns
Speak no more about which system keeps out extremists.
But this question…
Well, it’s not quite villainous but it shows a pitiful ambition to waste so much effort tinkering with the system by which we decide between poor choices rather than envisaging some decent ones.
