What we need is a comedy coalition to monitor our so-called “new politics”. I’m optimistic. I still believe in the power of British satire to make us laugh while making the world a better place.

Peter Cook, whose career Frost was lucky enough to inherit, had a splendid line about “those wonderful Berlin cabarets which did so much to stop the rise of Hitler and prevent the outbreak of the Second World War“.
